Charles Carter Slaughter Horse Collecting Station, Kersey, CO 7/19/11

Investigators observed approximately 20 horses in the front field at Carter’s place, some with auction tags still present.   Investigators drove to a vantage point at an oil rig, and an additional 10 horses were observed in a large pasture area on the north side of the property.   A grey mare was seen with a 3-4 month foal. Three trucks and four trailers, including the double decker, were parked on the property.  There were an uncountable number of horses in the pens on the south area. All horses observed were in acceptable condition.  It appeared that the property, which is only leased by Carter, has been sold to someone else. Numerous pens had been dug up, and it looked as if Carter may be preparing to move from this facility.
